Video Tutorial by Erica Houghton {Design Team "Moment To Shine}

Hi everyone & welcome back to another tutorial
from our Design Team "Moment To Shine" series.

Today we have a video tutorial by Design Team member
Erica Houghton, from the USA using our current challenge here.

Erica created this beautiful layout  based on the mood board
below & will share her creative process with us in her video.

Let's get to know a little about Erica.

Hi!  My name is Erica Houghton.
My husband Ben & I live outside of Washington DC in Stone Ridge, Virginia.
When I'm not working or sitting in traffic you can find me in my studio creating,
curled up with a good book, headed out the door for a run, or sightseeing & traveling!

My paper crafting is shabby chic - I  love glitter, rhinestones & anything that has glitz,
glamour & a LOT of sparkle!   AND I'm totally addicted to patterned paper.
I never feel my pages are complete until I've added flowers, ribbon & machine stitching.

I enjoy creating a variety of projects including layouts,
cards, tags, Off-The-Page products & mini albums.

In addition to creating for various design teams I also enjoy teaching classes at local
scrap stores,  because I love sharing my passion for paper crafting with others.
To see all of my creations please visit my blog here.

New Design Team Member - Lilibleu from France!

Hello everyone!  Exciting news today!!
We are welcoming TWO new design team members to Scrap Around The World
in the next month, starting today!  You will have to wait a couple of weeks to find out
who one of them is but for today please welcome Lydie Denis from France!  {aka Lilibleu}.

Let's hear from Lydie herself...

Hello everybody!  My name is Lydie Denis {aka Lilibleu}.
 I’m 42 years old, married & mother of two boys (age 5 & 7).
I live in the South of France, in a lovely sunny region called Provence!
Together with my husband we run our own e-shop – named Ysandel
selling fantasy jewellery (in French « bijoux fantaisie »).

I discovered scrapbooking in early 2009 after my second son was born.
Now scrapping is an integral part of my everyday life!
My kids, daily life & the beauty of nature are my main sources of inspiration.
I love to give volume to my creations, use inks & modeling pastes & flowers
 (maybe you already knew that)!!

You can take a tour into my colourful little world on my blog as well as  Facebook.
I’m also part of a few french Design Teams -
La Malle aux Fleurs (« Trunk of flowers »)
- Quoi de neuf au poulailler ? (« What’s up in chick’s house ? »)
- 52 rue scrapcopines (« 52, scrapfriends street »)

I really want to say thank you to Helen for inviting me to join Scrap Around The World
-  I’m very happy to be here with you all!

Here is one of Lydie's creations.
This page was one of our finalist entries & can be seen in our June 2014 Wall of Fame.
Lydie's work has been catching our eye lately & when we decided we could do with a
couple of extra team members we invited her!

Why are we expanding our team from 22 to 24?
We have a unique structure here at SATW that is working very well for us.
We have started sharing the admin load & now have a core admin team,
4 comment teams & a Facebook team.

Everyone has their special tasks behind the scenes & we could do with a couple
more helping hands.  We have also been revealing TWICE A MONTH for a while
now - on the 1st & the 16th of the month - so now we will have 12 projects
per reveal.  Sounds better than 11 don't you think?!?

Please welcome Lydie!!

Photo Tutorial by Hera Sugitani {Design Team "Moment To Shine"}

Hi everyone and welcome to the first of July's
"Design Team Moment To Shine" tutorials.

Today we have a step by step photo tutorial by Design Team member
Hera Sugitani, from Brazil, using our current  challenge here.

Hera says "The July mood board created by Tusia Lech is fantastic & I created
2 projects for it because I loved it so much!  One layout for the reveal & another
one to share with you today!  I hope it will inspire you to play along if you haven't
already :)  Time is running out now - just one week to go!

Let's get to know a little about Hera.

Hello, my name is Hera Sugitani & I'm from Brazil!
I'm a literature teacher & an art lover.
I discovered scrapbooking in 2007 & I fell in love with this art!!
I officially started working with it only in 2010 & now it is my passion!!!

  I'm married & have two wonderful daughters (7 & 14 years old).
My family is my main source of inspiration.
My style is eclectic.  I LOVE flowers & butterflies & am a very romantic person.
This year I have the pleasure to be on many Design teams & to be a part of
Scrap Around The World is a great honour for me too
.  You can find my blog here & I would love for you to visit me :)

Now I will show you the process of creating my layout.

STEP 1

Cut out 3 journaling cards & use the back
of the same paper to cut a bigger piece. (6" x 9").

STEP 2

Adhere the 6 x 9" paper, then glue a piece of Chevron paper (6" x 8") on top of it.
Now apply gesso around the papers to soften the edges.

STEP 3

Apply a stamp you like using Staz-On/archival ink.
I chose a post card stamp.

STEP 4

Adhere the tags & apply gesso around them too.

STEP 5

Add your photo, apply gesso &stamp again.
This time I used a set of many different stamps.

STEP 6

Using a glue gun, add the flowers.
I also added some pink crystals to enrich the layout.

STEP 7

Add your title.
 I used American Craft Thickers.

Your layout is complete!

A few closeups...

Small sweet flowers in the basket.

Lovely details in the title, crystals & stamps.

My sweet daughter . . . isn't she beautiful?

What do you need to achieve this look?

A photo, papers, flowers, crystals, alphabet
letters, ink, stamps & some gesso.

Supplies List:-

Paper - Marion Smith Garment District Remnants & Manhattan
Paper - Marion Smith Mad Tea Party Alice
American Crafts Thickers
Staz-On Ink - Jet Black
Set of stamps
Paint Brush
Prima Marketing Flowers - many colors & sizes!

Hot Glue

That's it!  I really hope you like it.
 It was made with love!
Hugs from Brazil . . . Hera
