"Hello everyone!  Jaya Raghuvanshi here from India.
Scrapbooking for me is not just a hobby, it's my passion!!
I began experimenting with mixed media scrapbooking last year
& quickly became addicted! I love playing with colours, textures & different mediums.

Mixed media gives me the freedom to go wrong, make mistakes, learn & create,
which is why I am so hooked!!  Apart from papercrafts, I also love travelling
& photography. You can visit my Blog here, my Facebook page here,
my Pinterest gallery here & my Instagram profile here.

Video Tutorial by Elena Ovchinnikova
{Design team 'Moment To Shine'}

Hi everyone! It's Heather McMahon back with you today to welcome
you to another video tutorial in our Design Team 'Moment To Shine' series.

Today we have a beautiful layout with a unique story behind it
by
Design Team member Elena Ovchinnikova from Spain. Elena
was inspired by our current challenge here.

We saw a sneak peak of Elena's layout in the mid-month reveal
now she is sharing a video of how she made her stunning project.

Elena was inspired by the colours of the mood board & the text in the circle.
She wanted to create something spiritual, with a global meaning.
The word "journey" made her think of the musician Estas Tonne
so she created her layout & video around him.

Let's learn a little about Elena:

"Hi everyone! My name is Elena Ovchinnikova.
In the scrapbooking world, my nickname is Elena Arts.

I was born in Russia but I have been living in Spain since 2000. I'm married

I have a little daughter who is my main source of inspiration. In 2012 I discovered scrapbooking & my world changed. I love creating beautiful things, especially with mixed media. I love textures, gesso, modelling pastes, paints, sprays & combining fabric with paper. I am very happy when I am creating I feel full of energy at these times.  I am very proud to be a part of this fantastic design team!

Elena also says, "I am so excited to share my enthusiasm for Estas Tonne, the
famous Russian guitarist, with you. I feel so alive & happy when I listen to his
music! You can see him in the photo I used.

I have created this video tutorial using Estas Tonne's music in the background.
This music is from his album Bohemian Skies. I hope you enjoy it!"

Here are some close ups showing the gorgeous details on this page.

Photo Tutorial by Heather McMahon
{Design Team 'Moment To Shine'}

Hello fellow scrappers! It's Heather McMahon back with you today to welcome
you to another photo tutorial in our Design Team 'Moment To Shine' series.

Today we have a layout by, well me actually! I'm from Australia
 & I
used the stunning mood board from our current challenge here as my
inspiration. Today I'm sharing a photo tutorial showing how I made my project.

I was inspired firstly by those pink steps in the mood board. They immediately
reminded me of the gorgeous steps everywhere on the Greek Islands &as I have
a gazillion photos of these places, I thought it was a great opportunity to scrap
them. I was also inspired by the amazing blues in the flower pic.

Here's a little about me:

"Hi there! I'm Heather McMahon & I'm thrilled to be a part of the Scrap Around
The World team. I live in Australia with my husband & 2 teenage kids.
I was introduced to scrapbooking 15 years ago & was immediately addicted.
My children were young when I started, so finding scrapping time was hard,
but now I have much more time to explore & create.

I love to experiment with different styles but I lean towards more arty, funky designs.
There is a lot of variety in what I create but colour always plays a key role in my work. I
like my layouts to reflect the mood or feeling of the photo & I use colour to reinforce this.

I love to connect with people online. You can find my Blog here, Facebook here
Pinterest here & Instagram here."

------------------------------------------------------------------------

1.  Stamp a few background stamps onto a good quality cardstock, using archival ink so it
won't run when water is applied. Draw a few rough circles with pencil.

2. Paint inside the circles with acrylic glaze. Add a little water to the glaze
first for a more transparent look & easier application.

3. Spray a very light spray of water over the area you want to colour. Take pinches of sparkling pigment powder
(use gloves if you don't want to stain your hands) & sprinkle it across the
wet areas. Spray another very light spray on top of the powder. The areas coloured with
the glaze will slightly repel the water & powder, letting the circles peep through.

4. Dry thoroughly. Using embossing ink, stamp a small flourish onto a few places
on the background & apply silver embossing powder. Heat to set.

5. If your background has buckled, place it under a heavy weight to flatten it while you
work on the embellishments. Paint the chipboard flourish with gesso & let dry.

6. Paint the chipboard alphas with gesso then paint or ink the top half
blue. Add blue embossing powder to the top half only & heat to set.

7. Drop silver & blue metallic threads across the page & glue down the photo, title
& chipboard flourish. These will anchor the threads in place.

8. Add a variety of blue & silver bling, write in your journalling & ink the edges
of the page with blue ink. Your layout is done!

The more water you use, the more the sparkling pigment powders will blend together. Try varying
the amount of water you use on different areas for interesting effects.

Small details like bling & embossing powders can make such a big impact.

On a busy or eye-catching background, you sometimes don't need too many
embellishments. A gorgeous flourish & title are all that's needed on this layout.

The products I used:

Supplies List
Cardstock - Core'dinations Heavyweight
Chipboard - The Dusty Attic - Wrought Iron Design Set & Dusty Curls ABC Set
Embossing powder - Tinby Designs Metallic Melts - Blue & Silver
Silks (acrylic glaze) - African Jade
Magicals (sparkling pigment powder) - Lindy's Stamp Gang - Tibetan Poppy Teal
Gesso - Derivan Matisse
Inks - VersaMark Watermark, ColorBox & StazOn
Stamps - Pink Paislee, Kiasercraft & Bo Bunny
Bling - Bella!, Paper Xtra & Kaisercraft
Thread - Gutterman Metallic
Pen, Pencil

Please leave a comment if you enjoyed my tutorial
