September 2015 challenge 29 by Lydie Denis aka Lilibleu
A Retro & Poetic Mood Board
Plus please welcome another new SATW Ambassador

Welcome back scrapping friends!

It's September which means a brand new challenge at Scrap Around the World!
We really hope you'll join us his month!  Things were a little slow this month,
but that is to be expected, what with the sun shining in the Northern Hemisphere,
many of you were out & about vacationing around the world!!  As I write this, with less than 12 hours to go until closing time now, we are sitting on 115 entries!!  Woot Woot!!  Not bad for one of the quietest months of the year online.

A quick note about COMMENTING!
While of course we LOVE seeing all your entries rolling in & realise how very
important it is to provide support & encouragement to all our players, we have
decided recently not to comment in the last 48 hours or on any entries over
120 {whichever comes first} BECAUSE by that stage we are busy studying
your amazing works & working out our favourites, all ready for voting!!

So please understand & forgive us ♥
If comments are really important to you, please
remember to get your entry in early enough :)

Now let's talk about this BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL BOARD!!
Only the French have the natural great style to create
something so gorgeously understated!

This mood board is resolutely old-fashioned, evoking childhood memories of much
loved & well read novels, faded pages, dusty books, ink spots & school stationery
boxes.  Along with old wood & weathered & worn pastel colours, this board invites
you to take a step back in time, be nostalgic, write love letters, share your favourite
lyrics, show off your calligraphy skills or enjoy a little doodle!!   Think neutral colours,
soft pinks, blues & browns, simple lines, clean shapes, all with a touch of the
shabby, distressed look too of course!  Do with it what you will!!  Just remember
to tell us how you were inspired! {unless it is very obvious of course!}

Here is Lydie Denis, aka Lilibleu, the designer of this
month's mood board, to tell us a little about herself...

"Hello everybody! My name is Lydie Denis, aka Lilibleu. I’m 43, married
& a mother of 2 boys, aged 8 & 6. I live in the South of France, in a lovely,
sunny region I love, named Provence.  Together with my husband,
we run our own e-shop, called Ysandel, selling fantasy jewellery.

I discovered scrapbooking during early 2009, after my second son was

born.  Now it's a real part of my everyday life!  My kids, daily life & the
beauty of nature are the main sources of my inspiration.  I love to give
volume & interest to my creations using inks, modelling pastes & flowers.

You can take a tour into my colourful world through my blog
as well as on my Facebook page.  I look forward to your visit!"

Video Tutorial by Marta Turska-Grochocka
{Design Team 'Moment To Shine'}

Hi everyone! It's Heather McMahon back with you today to welcome
you to another video tutorial in our Design Team 'Moment To Shine' series.

Today we have an art journal spread by

Marta Turska-Grochocka from Poland.

Marta was inspired by our current challenge here.

We saw a sneak peak of Marta's art journal in the first reveal
now she is sharing a video of how she made her gorgeous
project which is so full of texture & vintage loveliness.

Marta was inspired by the golden colours of the mood board, the sand
the text in the metal pendant. She wanted to create something about
dreaming, discovering, exploring, travelling & about life itself.

Let's learn a little more about Marta:

"Hi all! I am Marta. My nickname is JaMajka & I'm from Poland.
I love scrapbooking & art journaling.  I am always trying new techniques
& I like to do things my own way. I love mixed media & adore adding
colour to my work with sprays, masking & stamping.

My works are full of emotions, ideas & thoughts. They reveal my internal
feelings which are sometimes romantic & peaceful & sometimes
crazy & messy. I am very happy to be part of the amazing SATW team!

You can find my Blog here, Facebook here, Instagram here,

Pinterest here & Youtube here."

Click on the link below to watch Marta's video:

Here are some close ups showing the stunning details on the pages:

Note how Marta has stamped across layers, adding another level of interest.

Textures are a strong feature here, making the
viewer want to reach out & feel them.

Marta has used many different materials & has cleverly
used colour to pull them together.

Marta's stamping techniques are stunning!

And once again, the finished project:

Photo Tutorial by Galina Filippenko
{Design Team 'Moment To Shine'}

Hello! It's Heather McMahon back with you today to welcome you
to another photo tutorial in our Design Team 'Moment To Shine' series.

Today we have a simply sensational layout created by our Design Team member
Galina Filippenko from the Ukraine. Galina used the stunning
mood board from our current challenge here as her inspiration. We saw a
sneak peek of Galina's project at the beginning of the month & now she is
back to share her full photo tutorial.

Galina was inspired by the sepia colours in the mood board as well

as the map pattern & travel theme. She took her holiday photo with a
vintage camera, using overexposure to create pretty pastel colors to
match the vintage feel of this month's mood board.

Here's a little about Galina:

"Hello everyone. My name is Galina Filippenko & my
nickname is Galachko. I live in Kiyv, the capital of
Ukraine. I'm in love with my city & its history.

I started scrapbooking about 2 years ago. My favourite style is nautical
as I love the sea! My style is experimental but I like mixed-media as well
as clean & simple styles most of all. I am crazy about stamping!
I love the smell of new paper & am a self-confessed paper hoarder.

I love to connect with people online. You can find my Blog here
Facebook herePinterest here & Instagram here."

------------------------------------------------------------------------

1.  Apply white gesso onto the background paper with a foam
sponge. This allows the gesso to blend softly.

 2. Create texture with pieces of gauze, gluing them down with white gesso.

 3. Spray a few similar colours over the area you want to colour.

4. Spray a contrasting colour in a few places.

 5. Add accents with dark distress ink using a water brush or sponge.

 6. Stamp over the area you've been working on. Combine a few
types of stamps such as script & geometric.

 7. Choose papers & embellishments for your photo & glue in place.

 8. Add texture paste with micro-beads under & around the
embellishments to complete the project.

 Galina's gorgeous finished layout.

Galina added transparent micro-beads to create waves beneath the photo.

Sprays blend beautifully on soft fabrics such as gauze.

Galina used different stickers to create her title on the layout.

The products Galina used:

Supplies List
Patterned paper & stickers - Prima {Seashore}
Sprays - Lindy's Stamp Gang - Ocean
Breeze Blue,Tilt a Wheel & Yellow Sun
Ink - Distress - Vintage Photo, Tea Dye
Chipboard -  Scrapiniec - Doily
Acrylic structure gel - Pebeo
White Gesso - Goya
Wood, metal embellishments, paper flowers,
micro-beads,diecuts, gauze & gauze -stash

Please leave a comment if you enjoyed Galina's tutorial
& remember every comment you leave puts you in the running
to win our $50 FOLLOWERS' PRIZE from The Dusty Attic!

Remember - there are only 7 days left to enter this month's challenge!

August 2015 Guest Designer
Jayne Morgan from Canada

Hello sweet Scrap Around The World fans!

It's Anna Wiśniewska here with you today!

August in Europe used to be a month of warmth, sun, vacation & voyages.
This year August is also a month of the highest temperature in this part
of the world, reaching almost 40 degrees.  Our August mood board,
created by Jaya Raghuvanshi from India, is just perfect for sunny, summery
pages & recording beautiful memories from vacation getaways & holidays.

You have shared many amazing projects so far, & all of us here
at SATW are looking forward to seeing more of your creations.

In the meantime, I'm very happy to introduce to you our August Guest Designer!

First, please view our current challenge *HERE*
& our mid-month reveal based on the same challenge *HERE*.

Snag if you have been our GDT!

With her amazing creation she was the winner of our June 2015 challenge,
& we asked her to inspire us this month with another layout in her beautiful style,
this time based on the August mood board...

Jayne Morgan {Canada}

Let's get to know Jayne a little better!

"My name is Jayne Morgan & although I was born in England,
I have been living in Canada with my husband & 2 girls for the last 15 years.
I started scrapbooking approximately 8 years ago &, over the years, have become
more & more passionate about this fantastic hobby!  I'm inspired each day
by my family & the anticipation of scrapping those everyday moments.
As for my style of scrapbooking, I don't like to be restricted to one specific
genre & therefore find myself alternating between clean and simple pages
& the need to dabble in a little mixed media.
A big thanks to the SATW team for this awesome opportunity
& the abundance of inspiration you provide each month."

You can visit Jayne on her blog  *HERE* & on Pinterest *HERE*.

Now, let's all look at Jayne's gorgeous take on our mood board!

Jayne very beautifully captured so many elements of the mood board!
Her layout has a traveler's theme, but reaches deeper into the child's need
to explore nature & discover the world

There is so many sweet, little details representing the mood board!
Look at this tiny bicycle!

I love this quote - so true!

Thank you so much Jayne for participating in our challenges
& agreeing to be our Guest Designer this month.
We were all in love with your June layout
& this one is also absolutely fantastic!

Please leave Jayne some love in the comments

& visit her blog *HERE* to see more details on how she created
this layout and admire more of her amazing projects.

For any of you who haven't linked your project yet,

we hope that you will be inspired to play along & link up soon!

Challenge closes Monday, 31st August!
