Video Tutorial by Jelissa Mei
{Design Team 'Moment To Shine'}

Hi everyone! It's Heather McMahon back with you today to welcome
you to another video tutorial in our Design Team 'Moment To Shine' series.

Today we have a beautiful layout by Design Team
member Jelissa Mei
from Singapore. Jelissa was inspired by our current challenge here.

We saw a sneak peak of Jelissa's layout in the June reveal post
now she is sharing a video of how she made her stunning project.

Jelissa was inspired by the colours, the paint strokes in the chevron motifs, the
cracked egg edges & the quote about how we make our own happiness
(Jelissa makes her own happiness by spending time with her children).

Here's an update on Jelissa:

"Hello! I'm Jelissa & I live in sunny Singapore with my 2 boys & loving husband.
I picked up scrapbooking when my eldest was born in 2010 as a way of
recording his childhood. It gradually became an outlet for expression for me while I
balanced my personal life & my previous job as a forensic scientist. I love
experimenting with different styles & mediums. I'm now awaiting the arrival of our
3rd child & am conducting scrapbooking workshops both at my LSS & at home.

My blog is here, Facebook is here, Pinterest is here & Instagram is here."

Jelissa has prepared a step by step video with instructions to guide you through
how she created her background as well as the layering. Sit back & enjoy!

Click on the link below to watch Jelissa's video

Here are some close ups of Jelissa's gorgeous work showing the beautiful intricate details. Jelissa has created texture with pastes, burlap, gauze & paper tearing.

Jelissa has used a beautifully decorated chipboard piece as a photo mat.

Lots of detail is created using stamping, sand grit, texture paste & layering.

Try using a chipboard piece as a title instead of the usual alpha stickers.

Here are the products Jelissa used.

Supplies List

Paper - 13@rts Mental Vacation
Mediums - magic powder, metallic turquoise paint, turquoise matt paint,
raspberry matt paint, gold pearl paint, modeling paste, gesso, gel medium,
pink sand grit, microspheres & gold mica flakes - 13 @rts
Distress paint - Ranger Victorian Velvet
Brown Gelato - Faber-Castell
Chipboard - Blue Fern Studios Crossing the Lines
Flowers, Thin Dies - Prima Marketing Inc.

Please leave a comment for Jelissa if you enjoyed her tutorial
& remember every comment you leave puts you in the running
to win our $50 FOLLOWERS' PRIZE from The Dusty Attic!

Remember - there are only 3 days left to enter this month's challenge!
To be in with a chance to win 1 of our 11 amazing prizes you'll need to be quick!

Photo Tutorial by Valia Katzaki
{Design Team 'Moment To Shine'}

Hi everyone! It's Heather McMahon back with you today to welcome
you to another photo tutorial in our Design Team 'Moment To Shine' series.

Today we have a stunning layout by Design Team
member Valia Katzaki
from Greece. Valia was inspired by our current challenge here.

We saw a sneak peek of Valia's layout in the mid-month reveal
now she is sharing a photo tutorial of how she made her beautiful project.

Valia was inspired by the colours of the mood board, but chose to
tone them down to match her gorgeous vintage photo.

Lets learn a little about Valia....

"Hello! I am Valia Katzaki & I live in Athens, Greece. I am happily married with
3 children - a teenager & 2 toddlers; a lethal combination!

I started scrapbooking 3 years ago & I have been hooked ever since! I love
flowers & chipboard embellishments & I always incorporate these onto
my layouts, even when I am scrapping my boys. I love muted colors but I
occasionally enjoy experimenting with brighter ones. I love shabby & romantic
styles but I really enjoy getting my hands dirty with mixed media too. I just
try to make my projects 'me'.

My blog is here handmadebyvalia, Facebook is here, Pinterest is here & Instagram is here.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Choose your base paper. Prepare the paper by applying a coat of clear gesso.
Clear gesso makes the paper more durable against wet mediums. The paint
is also more manageable because it doesn’t soak into the paper.  After the clear
gesso dries, apply some crackle paste with a spatula through a stencil
& allow it to dry naturally.

2. After the paste is completely dry & the crackles appear, spray the paste with
the Vanilla Breeze & Soft Teal mists.

3. Spray with the Deep Teal mist then stamp with brown ink to give some
depth to the background & to make it more dramatic.

4. Prepare the papers for layering under your photo. Distress the edges with your
scissors & ink them. Add a small die-cut Moroccan panel, a page from an old
book & some chipboard. Spray two flowers with the Vanilla Breeze & Iridescent
Gold mists. Paint your chipboard with Apple cider Blingz, remembering to stir it
well first as the glimmery particles tend to stay at the bottom of the jar. Apply a
coat of gel medium to the Mechanicals then sprinkle on 13 arts gold
Microspheres & press gently to ensure they stick well.

5. Assemble your page. Add flowers, leaves, a die cut doily, some die cut
skeleton leaves & torn pieces of a doily. The one I used is an original
vintage doily knitted by my grandmother in the photo.

6. Apply more crackle paste in random patterns across your page & use
paintbrush to paint some areas with all 3 mists. Make random splatters
with these mists as well as the Gold Foil mist & add some more stamping too.

7. Slightly dry-brush some gesso on the flowers to add to the vintage
look. Apply gel medium on random areas of your page & sprinkle 13 arts
gold Microspheres over it. Your layout is now ready!

Valia has created many layers by using a variety of mediums.

Although this is a vintage layout, Valia has added gorgeous touches
of shine & glimmer to lift the page.

The final project.

Here are the products Valia used to create her project.

June 2015 Guest Designer
Arnlaug Koppang from Norway

Hello everyone!  It's Nicole Doiron here with you today!!

June is my favorite month of the year
(perhaps it has a little to do with the fact that it's my birthday month ;P)
& the Scrap Around the World June mood board,
designed by Veera Saarivuo from Finland,
is also a favorite of mine with its lovely pastel hues & sweet flowers.
You have shared amazing projects so far,
& all of us at SATW are looking forward to seeing more.

In the meantine, I'm very happy to introduce you to our June Guest Designer!

Snag if you have been our GDT!

First, please view our current challenge *HERE*
& our mid-month reveal based on the same challenge *HERE*.

Having been the winner of our April 2015 challenge,
she was asked to come back this month
to inspire us with another layout in her beautiful style,
this time based on the June mood board...

Arnlaug Koppang {Norway}

Let's get to know Arnlaug a little better:

"Hello!  I am Arnlaug Koppang, a 33 year old 'girl' from a small island
on the west coast of Norway. I'm married & we have 2 sweet girls & a cute little puppy.
I work full time as a social worker so the days are busy. I mainly make
layouts but sometimes I try out other projects. I love scrapping because it's
a hobby for both memory keeping & creating art. When I scrap,
my mind relaxes & it takes me away from the busy everyday life.
I am a scrapper with a lot of variety with many different styles.
But I have to say I'm having a blast when I'm playing with mixed media :-)
You can visit my blog at Arnlaugshobby.blogspot.com"

Take a look at Arnlaug's gorgeous take on our mood board!

Arnlaug was able to capture many elements of the mood board,
the soft colors & graphic simplicity with a touches of white.
The resin flowers are so sweet!

I love Arnlaug's attention to details... even a simple thing as
a metal staple makes a big difference!

Stenciling with white paste adds just the right amount of texture on the background.

Thank you so much Arnlaug for participating in our challenges &
for agreeing to be our Guest Designer this month.
We were wowed by your April winning layout & we also absolutely love this one!

Please leave Arnlaug some love in the comments
& visit her blog HERE to see more details on how she created
this layout as well as more of her outstanding creations.

For any of you who haven't linked your project yet,
we hope that you will be inspired to play along & link up soon!

Challenge closes Tuesday, 30th June!
