And now for some more very exciting news!!
We have our DESIGN TEAM CALL READY!

THIS CALL IS FOR OUR NEXT TERM - JULY 2015 - JAN 2016
 (excluding December as we are closing every December from now on - so 6 months total}
Replies will only be sent out to the selected candidates before the end of April.

If you have what we need I hope you will apply!
You get plenty of exposure here at SATW & this year you even get a great discount
with our sponsors, not to mention working with some of the most inspiring ladies
in this industry & making new friends all around the world!!

SO ON WITH THIS MONTH'S REVEAL!

Hello everyone! Spring & Fall are setting in around the world, depending on where you find
yourself living, but something most of us all love is the beach!  I don't enjoy swimming in
the ocean to be honest as our beaches are very public here & full of "beautiful people"
so I feel a bit self-conscious but I am blessed to have a view of the sea every day
I am here in Durban, South Africa, & to even get to smell the ocean in the wind
at times.  Surely there is no-one in this world who doesn't appreciate nature?

Our mood board host this month is Hera Sugitani from Brazil, which is a very hot country,
blessed by Nature & full of beaches!  Her mood board comes jam-packed with texture
& evocative elements.  You could be inspired by the lovely blues, whites & sandy colours
or by the images of anchors & sea-horses, or even just with a photo of you or someone
you love at the beach.  Almost ALL of us have those photos somewhere no?!

This mood board shows us mitred corners, sandstone blocks, grids, water foam, ombre
effects, typography, wood grain, circles, shells, stars, starfish, snails, ndoro shapes, glass,
metal, hinges, latches, spots, studs, organic shapes, rope, distressed wood & sand.
We all got VERY EXCITED behind the scenes with this one & we are expecting
one humdinger of a month from you all, our precious players!

To me this mood board speaks of love, peace, calm, unity & balance so why not
do an art journal page based on how this board makes you feel?  It is up to you
to be inspired however the wind takes you!!

IF COMMENTS ARE IMPORTANT TO YOU PLEASE TRY NOT TO LEAVE YOUR
ENTRY TO THE ELEVENTH HOUR AS IT'S TOUGH FOR US TO HAVE 50 PLUS
ENTRIES POURING IN AT THE LAST MINUTE & WE DON'T WANT TO DISAPPOINT
YOU IF WE DON'T MAKE IT ROUND TO YOUR ENTRY IN GOOD TIME!

Here is Hera with a little about herself...

"Hello friends! My name is Hera Sugitani & I'm your host for April.
I am a passionate teacher of scrapbooking and Portuguese literature.
I am from & live in Brazil - a very hot country with many fantastic beaches,
which inspired the mood board I created for you for April!   For me, scrapbooking
is how I express myself & record my family memories. It is a labour of love for me.
You can find my blog linked to my name above, & also follow me on  on Facebook
Pinterest and Instagram.  I am so excited to see what you create & will be
personally popping in on every one of you this month - I cannot wait!!

Video tutorial by Tiphanie Barbreau
{Design Team 'Moment To Shine'}

Hi everyone. It's Heather McMahon back with you today to welcome
you to another video tutorial in our Design Team 'Moment To Shine' series.

Today we have a gorgeous & unique project by Design Team

member Tiphanie Barbreau from France. Tiphanie was
inspired by our current challenge here..

We saw a sneak peek of Tiphanie's art journal page in the mid-month
reveal & now she is sharing a video of how she made her stunning project.

Please let Tiphanie know what you think by leaving a comment!

Tiphanie created this simply stunning page using the mood board for her
inspiration. She was influenced by the clean, minimalist images,
the blues yellows, the soft, flowing lines of the twine &
horse's mane, the drawn lines & the Sunshine quote.

There's so much inspiration on this mood board!

Here's an update on Tiphanie:

"Hello eveybody. My name is Tiphanie & I live in France. I began my artistic journey
as a cardmaker but I soon became addicted to scrapbooking. I love adding
texture to my work & having my hands covered with ink & paint! My other
passions are drawing & colouring in stamped images.

I hope you like my video!"

Click on the link below to watch Tiphanie's video.

Here are some close-ups of Tiphanie's gorgeous project. Tiphanie used pens with
different point sizes for her doodling. They are Uni pin 01, 02, 05 & 07.

Tiphanie suggests that drawings like this should be drawn freehand.
Don't be afraid to let your hand & heart wander freely!

Tiphanie finished her project by colouring with Copic markers. She loves these
markers because there are many colours which makes shading & blending easy.

Tiphanie's beautiful doodled art journal page.

Here are the products she used to make this project.

SUPPLIES LIST

Drawing Paper
Copic "Sketch" &  "CIAO" Markers from Danafix
Pen "Uni pin fine line"

Photo tutorial by Fiona Paltridge
{Design Team 'Moment To Shine'}

Hello again!  It's Heather McMahon back with you today to
share our fabulous March photo tutorial by our super-talented Design Team
member Fiona Paltridge from Australia. Fiona is sharing how she created
this stunning layout, inspired by our current challenge here.

Please let Fiona know what you think by leaving a comment!

Fiona was inspired by the colours, chevrons & quote from the current mood board.

Here's an update on Fiona:

"Hi! My name is Fiona & I live in South Australia with my husband.
I have 2 adult children who have both moved away to pursue their careers.
I have been a scrapbooker for almost 15 years now but I have only recently
discovered the online world of challenges & design teams!

I'm enjoying meeting so many amazing & talented people & having a chance
to share my love of creating as well as being exposed to a never-ending stream
of ideas, techniques & wonderful creations from my online compatriots.

My work is contemporary & I absolutely love using mixed media on my projects.
Since I've discovered modelling paste, gesso & watercolours I love using them
on everything I create! I currently design for 4 other teams ranging from a kit club to a challenge blog & a couple of product companies. I am also a current Scrapbooking Memories Master.

I am loving being part of SATW & enjoying sharing my love of creating with you all.
You can find my blog HERE."

----------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Begin by preparing your background paper with white or clear gesso. I used both
as I wanted the white gesso to soften the background & the clear gesso to
give it extra tooth for all the water colour I was about to add. Once it's dry,
add some stenciling using white gesso mixed with Matt Gel Medium.

2. Once the stenciling is dry, add some colour using 13arts Chalk Sprays
in pastel turquoise. Tip the paper up & allow it to drip. Use a small paint
brush with water to spread some of the colour around the page.

3. When dry, stamp with stamp sets designed by Kasia Krzyminska as these are
perfect for adding a hand drawn look to the background.

4. Add some papers to frame the photo & some washi tape to accentuate the "T" shape
in the design. Add some white cotton under the photo.

5. Use blackboard paint to create contrast in the design. Smear a large
section to write your title on with a white marker once it is dry.

6.  Add doodling with a black marker by tracing around some of  the triangle shapes created by the stencil & adding some square shapes similar to the stamp used on the background.

7. Add a splash of yellow by mixing a very small amount of Flat Shot powder
with water & sprinkling it over the design. This powder is very
pigmented so only a tiny amount is required.

Here are some close ups to show you the amazing detail on this project:

Fiona has used a stunning colour combination here.

The variety of textures & the hand-drawn look are strong features of this page.

The finished project is full of life and colour!
